Lola in the Big City

Madison Jaet’s My Best Friend, Lola is all about bringing the joy of childhood into every moment of the lived experience. Her coined style: contemporary naivete is the embodiment of this ice-cream-stained-smile kind of joy. Whether it’s commissioned styling projects or fine art photo books capturing this joy is key to the creative studio’s practice. For this shoot in New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood we wanted to create a character that bridged the gap between poise and play just like The Big Apple. She needed to feel adult and chic like Manhattan but living everyday with that gleeful gleam at the corners of her eyes. 

We shot fast and quick with a small street style camera, capturing the little dances that characterize our big city.
