Papercut Dæmons exists in the space between now and forever.
Papercut Dæmons is a collection of masks created in the Integrated Design Studio Intensive. The class was tasked with creating a collection of images based on the idea of Dæmons as agents of chaos. My concept was Papercut Dæmons, the agents of chaos inherited as stories are passed down through generations. Each Dæmon pulls ideas from cultural myths, combining them into a paper-bound archetypal figure. Sometimes the stories we tell cut deep.

Papercut Dæmons was created in Integrated Design Studio with Marisa Morán Jahn and Marc Parroquin
The initial idea of the project was to pull figures from old Scottish and Welsh mythology and then abstract their forms in the masks. Like Taliesin and Myrddin the bard knight and the wizard. While some of the inspiration stayed others were added like Tsuru no Ongaeshi, The Crane Wife. All forms were intentionally abstracted beyond specifics into archetypal forms.
Sol and Luna were concepts that stayed the same throughout the whole process. The Sun and the Moon are always present and involved in life on Earth and have rich myths associated with them. What role do the cosmos play in our lives? What is the role of the observer in society?
